I love traveling and one thing I have not done a lot of is traveling within Canada. Ironically before I moved to Canada, I took a trip up to Halifax and the surrounding areas for whale watching. A couple weeks in June and I saw a Minke Whale in the Bay of Fundy. If I remember correctly, I took a road trip all the way to the Digby Neck, then crossed a bridge on Brier Island to catch the whale watching. In a way Nova Scotia kind of reminded me of Colorado, it had an alpine vibe and way more pine trees than Ontario. There was also a certain whiff of something refreshing in the air… probably the sea.
It was so cool! Literally and figuratively, because I was up there in mid June and it was pretty nippy out on the Bay. I also had the unique experience of catching a whiff of a whale fart too, that was less enjoyable. Lol

So, the next place that I want to travel to is PEI. It’s the smallest province in both land area and population, but it’s so widely known for so many reasons. I think Anne of Green Gables was written there and are also known for their beef cows. And it’s funny, a new friend that I met last spring is from there and recently went back to visit some family. She’s cool, a copy writer which I learned is not a copywriter. A copyright is the exclusive legal right given to an author of a work. What she does is to make a ‘copy’, which is compelling written content that helps with the user experience online. I’m really embarrassed to say it, but I’m about 40 years old and I’ve just recently learned about the later and how it’s different from the former. She was telling me that she was visiting her aunt who has this site which is like the go to place to buy lab equipment? I guess they also have clients all through the world including the Philippines. Why is this relevant?? Oh let me tell you.
But one thing that I like to do before traveling to a new spot is finding a local fried chicken joint. Now mind you, this doesn’t have to be our classic fried chicken join like in the south of the States. I love a fusion experience, but really if you think about it frying chicken is not specific to one area of the world. Unfortunately for the chicken’s sake, they are delicious when deep friend and almost every culture has some recipe where they marry the chicken with batter and hot oil.
So, without further adieu, I have fond a fried chicken place in Charlottetown (which is the capitol). It is called Nanay Lou’s kitchen and is a Filipino/Canadian restaurant. So it’s settled, this spring I will plan a trip out to PEI and stop by Nanay Lou’s kitchen to experience some Filipino friend chicken!
